He also filmed the short feature film (Less than an Hour), written and directed by Mohamed Mamdouh and produced by the National Cinema Center. - In 2010, he traveled to Jordan to film his second feature film, which was the Jordanian film (Transit Cities) by director (Muhammad Hashki), also his first feature film. The film won the Special Jury Award from the Dubai Film Festival and the International Critics Association Award (FIPRESCI) as the best film from the same festival. In the same year 2010, he filmed the short independent feature film (Maidum) by the Egyptian-British director (Omar Hamilton). It is also considered his first film. The film was screened in the official competition of the Dubai Film Festival. He also filmed the documentary film (Inside/Outside the Room) directed by Dina Hamza and produced by the National Cinema Center, which won the Best Long Documentary Film award from the Egyptian National Film Festival for the year 2010. From 2009 to 2011, he taught photography and lighting to the students of the Jesuit Film School in Alexandria and Cairo for three years, and he was honored by the Jesuit Film School in recognition of his role. During the same period, he filmed a large number of short films for Jesuit graduates and young independent directors such as (Sarah Abdullah, Wissam Arafa, Ahmed Al-Lawzi) and a number of video art works for many visual artists such as (Moataz Nasr El-Din). In 2011, he filmed his third feature film (Going Out for the Day), directed by (Hala Lotfy), which is also her first feature film. The film won 12 awards from international festivals, most notably Best Film from the International Critics Association (FIBRESCI), Best Director Award from the Arab World at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2011, Bronze Tanit Award at the Carthage Film Festival 2011, Golden Oran Award for Best Film at the Oran Film Festival 2011, Best African Film (Golden Award) from the Milan African Film Festival 2013, Best Direction Award from Kazan Film Festival 2013, Best Direction Award from Alexandria Film Festival 2013, Special Jury Award from Zagora Film Festival in Morocco 2013. It was also selected on the list of the 100 best Arab films prepared by the Dubai Film Festival with the participation of about 485 critics and filmmakers from the Arab world to be the latest film on the list, - as it happened. (Mahmoud Lotfy) received a special award for the best artistic achievement for filming from the Thessaloniki Film Festival. In 2012, Mahmoud filmed two feature-length documentary films: (Wahbi Cinema) by the Syrian director (Nidal Al-Debs) and a film by Basil Ramses. In 2013, Mahmoud Lotfy filmed his fourth feature film, “Factory Girl,” directed by the great director Muhammad Khan. In 2014, he worked as director of photography for the series (The People of Alexandria).
