
An Egyptian maestro, composer and orchestral composer. He was born in the Boulak neighborhood in Cairo on April 14, 1916. He loved music from his childhood. In 1930, he joined the Fouad I Institute of Arabic Music, where he joined the music department to study violin playing in the Western section under the Armenian professor Armenak. He also studied musical sciences under the Greek professor Kostaki, and received lessons in orchestral writing from the Italian professor Cantoni, who was director. For the Egyptian Opera House, he studied Western music sciences from Safar Ali, and roles and musical songs from Darwish Al-Hariri. He taught at the Institute while he was still a student, graduated in 1935, and was appointed as a music teacher at the Ministry of Education. He also formed a musical band at the Institute of Music in 1946, and the band presented its work on the Egyptian Radio. After that, he took over the leadership of the musical band that was formed by the radio in 1951. He established and led the National Folklore Band Orchestra. He was also appointed as an agent of the Musicians Syndicate in 1949. As for cinema, he placed Music for 17 films, including: (Al-Bostaji, Al-Nadha, The Dawn Visitor, Zainab, and The Ambassador of Hell). He died in 1987.
