Fathya Ahmed

The singer of the two countries, Fathia Ahmed, was born in 1898 in the Al-Kharnafsh neighborhood in Cairo and died on December 5, 1975. Her father is Sheikh Ahmed Al-Hamzawi, who was a singer and religious supplicant. In her youth, Fathia Ahmed participated in musical theater as a singer and actress and moved with musical theater groups between Egypt and the Levant. For this reason, she was given the title “The Singer of the Two Countries.” It was composed by great composers such as Sayed Darwish, Kamel Al-Khula’i, Abu Al-Ala Muhammad, Riad Al-Sunbati, Muhammad Qasim, Daoud Hosni, Zakaria Ahmed, and Ahmed Sidqi. Among her most famous songs are “Visit me once a year”, “This sweet girl rose to knead at dawn”, “Talaat, oh the place of her light”, “Oh Abu Al-Kashashesh”, “Mazlouma and you, oh my cousin”, and “Oh the sweetness of the world, oh sweetness”. She sang without appearing in the movie “Aida” in 1942. She also sang and acted in the movie “Ahlam Al-Shabab” in 1942 and “Hanan” in 1944.
