Lebanese music composer, born in Alexandria (Egypt) and died in Beirut. His original name is Elias Neamatallah Ghosn Shalala. His father is from the village of Ghaina, “Ftouh Kesrouan” in Lebanon. He immigrated to Egypt and worked in trade. Some time after Elias's birth, his name changed to Farid. Farid Ghosn’s wish was to become a doctor, and his father’s wish was to become an engineer, while his old Greek neighbor’s wish was for Farid to become a musician like him. He knew intuitively that Farid possessed a rare talent, and the Greek neighbor's wish was accompanied by musical instructions. He then taught him musical principles and the principles of musical composition, including arranging melodies. From here, talent began to emerge in small works that caught the attention of adults.
