
Writer and journalist Ezzat Al-Amir, born February 21, 1930. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1954. He worked as a journalist at Dar Al-Hilal in 1958 and rose through the ranks until he reached deputy editor-in-chief of Al-Kawkab magazine and editor-in-chief. He wrote a weekly satirical article in Al-Wafd newspaper entitled “Donkeys.” He participated in establishing the “100 Chairs Theater” troupe at the Czech Cultural Center. He wrote several plays, the most important of which is The Apple and the Skull, based on the novel by the satirist Muhammad Afifi in 1969. He participated in its production, Don’t Draw the Curtain, The Naked Truth, The Lion Tattoo, Zorba the Egyptian, Nights of Shahrazad, The Rule of Shahrazad, Doctors of Plumbers. He participated in writing the cinematic story, as well as the script and dialogue for a number of films, and he also participated in acting in some of them, such as “Fat Cats,” “A Dangerous Liaison,” and “Tears in Laughing Eyes.” His books include The Shock of Nakedness, God's Chosen People, Donkeys, and The Headache of Cultures Not Civilizations. Ezzat Al-Amir died on October 6, 2003.
