Ahmed Samir, a journalist and artist, was born in the city of Zagazig. In 1940, he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in commerce from Cairo University in 1961. He also obtained postgraduate studies in media, acting, public speaking, and television art. He joined television in early 1963 and worked as a newscaster. He rose through the ranks of media positions from newscaster to chief newscaster and political program presenter, then vice president of the first channel. He was an art lover and had been practicing artistic and theatrical activities since 1964, in addition to his work on television. He participated in acting in three plays: “The Trap,” “The Earthquake,” and “Three Wise Madmen.” He wrote the stories and dialogue for three films: “Al-Kamasha,” “Al-Hanakeesh,” and “The Game.” He also wrote two serial scripts and dialogue for television: “Escape into the Unknown” and “The Age of Khanka.” He also wrote two novels: “The Age of Victims” and “Tomorrow Will Not Be Lost, My Love.” He married broadcaster Suhair Shalabi.
