Ahmed Sabra

An Egyptian musician and composer, and one of the most skilled qanun players. Born in Alexandria, he worked as a composer and singer at Badia Masabni Casino. He composed music for most of the male and female singers of his time. His works include: (If You Come to Us, O Beautiful) by Muhammad Qandil, (Oh Yani) by Laila Murad, (O Mother of Golden Feelings), (The Story of Fancy) by Hoda Sultan, (Here Our Love Is Tamed), (The Spring Has Passed) by Abdel Halim Hafez, (The Lover of All), (The Rose of the Beloved) by Donia Zad, (The Spring) by Scheherazade, (Al-Bar Aman) by Shafiq Jalal, (You are my life), (Grapes), (Sing, O Bulbul), (Irrigate beauty for the soul), all of them by Ismail Shabana and (What is the Meaning of the World), (Rejoice and Be Congratulated) by Fifi Maher, (Oh Peace, Peace) by Samiha Murad, and the famous duet (Along) by Najah Salam and Sayed Ismail. He also composed for Ismail Yassin (Nabawiyya), Soraya Helmy (Unbelievable), and Ahmed Ghanem (What Is Unreasonable). “Time is a joke,” “My wife is extravagant,” “The hare,” etc. He died on December 19, 1976.
