
Abdel Khaliq Al Mukhtar

He was born in Baghdad in 1960. He holds a bachelor’s degree in theatrical arts, department of acting and directing, in 1982 from the Academy of Fine Arts, University of Baghdad, and also a master’s degree in theatrical arts with a very good degree in 1989 from the same academy. He is a member of the National Acting Troupe, and a founding member of the Ibrahim Jalal Theater Troupe. He also worked as a teacher at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad/Theatrical Arts Department from 1991 to 2001, and served as head of the Acting Branch, Department of Dramatic Arts. At the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad for three years, he also worked as an executive producer in the field of private television production. Despite his poor health, he presented many important works on television or theater with two cinematic films: (Love Was the Reason) with director Abdel Hadi Mubarak in 1986, and (Hakaka) directed by Arkan Jihad for Al-Sumaria TV in 2008. Among his most prominent theatrical works are: The Hunchback, The Wolf, Macbeth, The Game, Five Voices, Bab Al-Agha Psalms, and in television dramas: Minawi Pasha, The Wound, The Coming Destiny, The Pasha. He won many Iraqi and Arab awards.
