The poet and musician Abdel Fattah Mustafa was born in Cairo in 1924 AD. He graduated from the Faculty of Law and obtained a diploma in Islamic law. He began his professional career in the 1940s in writing songs. Many great singers, such as Abdel Wahab and Umm Kulthum, sang his poems. Among his most famous works by Umm Kulthum are: “Lasa Faker,” “Repentance,” and “Night and Day.” In the seventies, the poet took a Sufi direction in his poems, composing religious songs for Abdel Halim. He also wrote many songs for great singers such as Sheikh Sayyid Naqshbandi. He won the award for the best scenario, dialogue, and songs for the series (Muhammad, the Messenger of God). He also presented the scenario, dialogue, and songs for the movie (Al-Shaima), which was sung by Souad Muhammad. He also presented many radio works, including one that is still being shown successfully (Awf Al-Aseel - Marzouk). Mustafa won the Naguib Mahfouz Award for Literature.
