
Egyptian and world champion in crossing the English Channel. He was born on January 7, 1911 in Cairo Governorate and was nicknamed the tamer of the Nile crocodiles. He is the father of world-class swimmer Suheir Abdel Baqi. One of the pioneers of long-distance Arab swimming who crossed the English Channel with Egyptian champions Hassan Abdel Rahim, Mohamed Ishaq, and Marai Hammad. He received several sports medals, including the Sports Medal in 1955 and the Medal of Merit in 1974. Egyptian cinema invested in his sports fame, and he appeared as an actor in many films, most notably the movie (Crazy People in Bliss) in 1963, and the movie (A Warm Winter Night) in 1981. He died on January 12, 1997.
