
An Egyptian art historian and satirist, he was born on October 10, 1919, on Bab al-Bahr Street in the Bab al-Sharia neighborhood in Cairo. He began his artistic career in school activities. In 1936, when he was a student, he called for an Egyptian cinema conference to be held. He was only seventeen years old. The conference was held in Al-Azbakeya Park in Ataba, and he was elected general secretary of this conference. He worked in journalism in a number of newspapers and magazines until he settled in Dar Al-Tahrir Printing and Publishing, Al-Jumhuriya newspaper, then Al-Masaa newspaper. He was given the nickname "Mickey Mouse" in 1938, when he was working for the "Garden and Home" newspaper, and its president presented him with a caricature of the character Mickey Mouse published in the French magazine "L'Evan" and asked him to write a joke about him. When he wrote it, he suggested that he sign it with the name Mickey Mouse, and he continued to carry this title until his passing. Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah composed songs such as “Ala By the Way, How Are They” and “The Sweet Abu Mole on His Forehead” by Muhammad Qandil, and “My Workers, I Don’t Take Care of Him” and “Al-Wala Jah” by Sharifa Fadel. In the field of radio, he wrote hundreds of programs and skits. He wrote the first operetta for the small screen, entitled “Ewais and Masada,” and dozens of scenarios for cinematic films. He published about 30 books about art stars. He was the first to introduce the idea of commercial marketing campaigns for Egyptian films. He was one of the five founders of the Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers, of which he became president in 1956 and 1957. He is credited with discovering Anis Obaid, the film translator, in addition to discovering many authors, composers, and singing stars. And acting. He wrote a daily section in Al-Masaa newspaper entitled “You Ask and Mickey Mouse Answers,” which continued on the pages of the newspaper until he passed away. He also had a television program that he presented on Friday of every week, entitled “Stars with a History,” in which he talked about the stories of Egyptian and Arab artists, the heroes of films shown on the small screen. His latest creative work was 30 episodes about artistic life on Channel Three. Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah was famous for his tact and lightheartedness when he told his funny memories about the artistic people whom he accompanied throughout his journey that extended from the mid-thirties. On the personal and human level, he was cheerful... very humble and courteous... with a presence and an excellent ability to make you laugh. Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah received many honors and awards from many artistic associations and festivals.
